Drone Ground Penetrating Radar (Drone GPR)

High Compliance has become the first company in the UK to invest in the fully integrated UgCS drone-based GPR system.

Drone Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) – A Useful Tool for the Construction Industry

High Compliance has become the first company in the UK to purchase the UgCS Drone Ground Penetrating Radar (Drone GPR) system. This investment underlines their commitment to leading with innovation. High Compliance purchased the Drone GPR for utilities detection. The system provides access areas that are conventionally hard or impossible to reach. Construction industry projects often require large areas to be surveyed prior to development. However, some of these areas are not easily accessed with conventional systems. The Zond 500 MHz system will identify metallic and non-metallic utilities in depths up to 5 m in typical soil. We look forward to updating the market on their trials of the system. The trials are expected to begin in late April or early May 2021.

Bathymetry with Drone Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)

The drone GPR measures the depth of water and profiles the bottom of freshwater rivers, lakes, and ponds to depths of 15 metres. Benefits include surveying frozen water and areas where ice partially covers the surface. Compared to boat-based bathymetry (equipped with echo sounders), drone GPR provides more accurate survey-line tracking through GPS-guided automated flight. In most cases, a drone makes it a lot easier to deliver the necessary equipment to the desired area.

Strat Profiling

Strata profiling is a standard task that needs to be done before any serious area development or construction works. The standard technique is drilling dozens of holes or conducting a GPR survey on carts. A drone GPR integrated system delivers higher work productivity and enables safer work conditions for the personnel in cases of rough terrain. Drone GPR allows finding any potentially dangerous underground water streams or lakes.

Utilities Mapping

Underground infrastructure mapping is important before construction begins. It is particularly valuable where records are incomplete or missing.
