JBUAS & SPH Engineering Academy Partnership
As a long-standing integrator of SPH Engineering technology, we have a close working relationship which encompasses the provision of training. From technical engineering through to programme and partner management, we have the right contacts to deliver an outstanding ‘joined-up’ training solution.
Our Training Solution delivers the best of both worlds by offering the perfect blend of SPH engineering expertise delivered remotely, while providing all our customers with face-to-face instruction with a native English-speaking solutions expert.
Key Features
- Training delivered from UK Test and Training Centre: There is no need to travel to Latvia from the UK. This involves extra cost and more importantly, considerable time away from the day-to-day (and family of course!).
- On-Site Systems Instructor: Customers get access to SPH training experts remotely via our smart screen from our training room, while being supported with Q&A in real-time via our onsite (native English speaking) instructor.
- Flying Range On-site: When the theory is over, the instructor delivers practical flying sessions out on our on-site flying range where customers put their learning into practice. Our flying range is fully equipped with buried targets and utilities for GPR and Magnetometer sensors.
Programme Structure
Depending on the needs of our customers, we can be flexible to deliver a more tailored training programme where necessary. For all other instances, we deliver a simple A-B-C-D approach to training:
A. Initial Drone Configuration
Like many aspects in life and work, when you have so many responsibilities to take care of, sometimes it pays to have hands-on support to take you through the initial set-up. What seems straightforward, can quickly become very frustrating. Further to a new license protocol for all SPH Engineering airborne sensors being introduced in late 2024, support is only a call away.
B. UgCS (Ground Control Software Training): This is leading professional mission planning software. (Duration: 1 day on-site)
- SPH Engineering Training Module (Morning)
- JBUAS on-site flying practical (Afternoon)
C. UgCS & Area Scan: This training provides users with the knowledge to fly sensors using UgCS and the Custom Payload Monitor tool. (2 days on-site)
- SPH Engineering Training Module (Morning)
- SPH Area Scan Module (Afternoon)
- JBUAS on-site flying practical (Morning-Afternoon)
The type of skill zone flown on the range will depend on the sensor being deployed e.g. Magnetometer, Echosounder, GPR etc. Our students can fly the following zones:
- Utilities Buried Pipes Zone
- UXO Buried Items Zone
- Large Surface Target Zone
- True Terrain Following Zone
- Object Mitigation Zone
- Water Zone
D. Sensor Specific Training Modules: This training depends on the sensor being integrated or deployed.
- Delivered in ‘bite size’ modules
- Explores the theory behind the sensors operation.
- Provides students with capability to process collected data.
Trained in the UK by a Sensor Expert Instructor
All our sensors are covered including GPR, Magnetometers, Methane detectors, Echosounders, and many more. For companies that need to be seen to know their ‘stuff’, this specific training is ideal. With the knowledge gained, users can ‘walk the talk’ and be seen to understand the application fit and confidently process data for inclusion in reports. As always, all our students benefit from the facility of the test and training centre, where all the technical modules are delivered remotely from SPH Engineering HQ in Latvia, but all questions and misunderstandings can be managed to a positive conclusion by our expert solutions expert who will be overseeing all the training on-site (this also enables face-to-face post training reviews).
Data Collection and Processing Sessions
These sessions will be managed wholly by our onsite systems instructor and will involve students practicing what they have learned and where required, going out on the flying range to collect some real data for processing. The students will then be expected to return with that data for a data processing review.
Practical Exam Certificate
The test verifies hands-on skills and experience in gathering, processing, and understanding data using systems provided by SPH Engineering. Participants must autonomously plan a UAV flight mission for their respective sensor data collection. Post-flight, they should be able to validate and analyse the data. This hands-on process highlights learning and applying UAV-operated sensor data collection and analysis principles. JBUAS will guide you through the certificate process making sure you have all the knowledge and data ready to submit through the SPH Academy.
Customers outside the UK
JBUAS is happy to invite customers from outside the UK to join these training programmes. If you feel your business would benefit from visiting the UK Test and Training Centre, you can specifiy your sensor solution to us – Get in touch here.
